Personal wellbeing and meaningful contribution aren’t mutually exclusive.

They’re interconnected and mutually beneficial.

Showing up for the people, projects, and causes you care about matters.

Your needs and desires matter too, and you deserve attention, care, and support.

Prioritizing wellbeing makes your contributions sustainable.

Together, they foster deeper fulfillment.

This perspective shapes the way I work.

Wellbeing, Contribution, and Fulfillment.

Despite what we've been told, leading a values-aligned life doesn't require you to undermine your needs or abandon your desires.

Why This Matters

The quality of your self-leadership impacts the quality of your life.

Many values-led women struggle to prioritize their own wellbeing and sense of fulfillment as they lead their lives.

A tense internal tug-of-war often emerges as we navigate everyday decisions while trying to prioritize the things that matter most to us.

Yet frustration caused by undue inner friction takes more than desire, intelligence, and effort to resolve.

Understanding Inner Friction

Inner friction often signals incongruence between our conscious preferences and our non-conscious priorities.

It reflects how different internal systems are evaluating what feels safe, sustainable, or appropriate in a given moment.

Regardless of how it may seem, inner friction does not exist to interfere with your intentions.

It is actually a valuable source of guidance.

That said, it can feel misleading if it is not interpreted accurately or directed intentionally.

These are self-leadership skills you can develop.

Trying to ignore, suppress, or fight it often perpetuates the problem rather than resolving it.

What's needed instead is curiosity and compassion, offering space for a renewed internal dynamic to develop.

Working with friction effectively requires you to notice, interpret, refine, and integrate its influence.

With time, this process becomes less effortful as your internal signals become more refined and reliable.

Guiding Principles for Liberatory Self-Leadership

Views & Values

Liberatory Self-Leadership is about individuality and interconnectedness.

It means centering your wellbeing while taking responsibility for your decisions.

It means freeing yourself from internalized standards, disempowering narratives, and inherited ideas that don’t acknowledge or support the person you actually are.

It means reducing undue inner friction, not by suppressing it, but by kindly tuning into, recalibrating, and integrating your internal signals.

It means purposely choosing a way of life that suits you specifically, rather than reflexively adhering to a generic local norm.

And it means recognizing that personal freedom does not exist in isolation.

Liberatory self-leadership upholds human dignity, acknowledges inequity, and considers collective wellbeing.

It supports you in contributing meaningfully to the people, projects, and causes you care about, without neglecting yourself in the process.

I believe we each have the right to live by our own views and values.
I recognize some of the views I share below are socially and emotionally charged. I share them not to provoke anyone, but to support informed consent and mutual clarity when deciding whether to work together.

My personal stance is:

- Human rights apply to every human.
- Truth and reconciliation commitments are just.
- Diversity, equity, and inclusion support individuals and enrich communities.
- Intersectionality informs effective empowerment models.
- Gender is a construct unconstrained by a binary.
- Race is constructed and racism creates tangible harm.
- Oppression is unethical.
- Both science and the arts support subjective and collective wellbeing.
- Climate change is happening and actively harming us.
- Over-production/-consumption increases environmental decline.
- Quality education elevates opportunities.
- Everyone deserves safety.
- Abortion access is health care.
- Vaccines save lives.
- Genocide is immoral.
- Good government upholds wellbeing for all.
- Religious pluralism is part of healthy human society.
- Firearms restrictions reduce gun violence.
- No leader should be above accountability.
- (Like Spiderman was advised) "with great power comes great responsibility"

In summary, I believe our collective wellbeing is the goal.

While I stand by these views, I’m open to thoughtful, good-faith conversations rooted in curiosity, care, and evidence. My energy is not available for discussions or debates that deny dignity, reality, or harm.
